Gratitude

Just felt like sharing today from one of my top 5 Favorite books on the planet! :) The 4:8 Principle by Tommy Newberrry is full of so much wisdom but I felt this was the appropriate nugget for today.

"Gratitude is a conviction, a practice and a discipline...Gratitude is a like a mental gearshift that takes your from turbulence to peacefulness, from stagnation to creativity. Gratitude brings you back to the present moment, to all that is working well in your life right now. When you focuse on your blessings, your life feels abundant, when you focus on whats missing your life feels incomplete." Tommy Newberry

So today lets not compare, or get lost in the past and the regrets of what has not happened. Every day is new day, to start fresh and to begin again. Whatever your goal is, just know that with a heart full of gratitude and appreciation, you will reach your finish line!

Health Tip: Blueberries or Red Grapes

Swap a handful of red grapes for a handful of blueberries. Blueberries are a great source of fiber, antioxidants and carbs.

Fiber keeps you fuller long, antioxidants help fight the free radicals in your body that can harm you, and healthy carbs are a great source of energy.  Blueberries are also known to boost your concentration and memory by up to 20%! So, eat them in the morning to reap the benefits and you’ll burn the sugar calories before night! Enjoy this great 100 calorie snack!!

Overcoming

I am sure that many of you have reached places in your life where the goals that you have set seem too difficult or out of reach.  The goal may be to lose the last 10lbs that you gained after your last baby. Or to lose weight that has just stuck around for way to long. Maybe the goal is to exercise 3 days a week no matter what, or to run in a marathon. No matter how big or small the goal is its important to set a date and work towards accomplishing it. But the most important part of the goal is to finish what you told yourself you would do. Keep your word to yourself, and watch your self image rise to new heights.

Most people fail because they quit to soon. Don't let that be you.
"Actions are the only way to bridge plans and goals with accomplishment. Nothing happens until you do something to make it happen-every day. Are you action, or B.T.N.A ( big talk, no action)." Jeffery Gitomer

In his book The Little Red Book of Selling  Jeffery Gitomer talks about goals and what it takes to succeed.

" Failure actually only occurs when you decide to quit. Few simple things you can do to avoid getting to the quit stage are:

  1. Look at failure as an event, not a person.
  2. List possible opportunities.
  3. Ask yourself what have I learned? And try again.
  4. Don't mope around with other failures-go find successful people and hang around them.
I hope that some of these thoughts have encouraged you to never quit. Don't give up on your goals and remember, " When something bad happens( or you miss a goal) you have 3 choices, you can either let it define you, let it destroy you or let it strengthen you. " - Unknown

The Daily Decisions...Do they Really Matter?

Being healthy is more popular than ever before. From bottled water, yoga, fitness clothing and organic everything its definitely been accepted by most as trendy and exciting to be healthy.

So why is it that with all this popularity and acceptance childhood obesity is on the rise? 28.8 million children and adults in the U.S. have diabetes according to the American Diabetes Association.

Thought I would share some incredible wisdom from the author of The Slight Edge, Jeff Olson.

" You know what you are suppose to eat. We all do. Fresh fruits and vegetables, complex carbs, salads, whole foods, lean meats etc...You know it, I know it, we all know it. So why do so many of us still go out and chow down on cheeseburgers and fries every day? I'll tell you why: Because it wont kill us today. Not today.
If you ate a cheeseburger and immediately suffered a near fatal heart attack, would you ever go near a cheeseburger again? I doubt it. It may take twenty or thirty years, but when you add up the compounded interest on all that high-fat, artery clogging dietary mayhem, eventually your poor overworked heart just quits, stops dead. And so do you. We dig our graves with our teeth.
Its easy to eat well. And its easy not to. Its not the one junk food meal; its the thousands, over time. Eating the burger is just a simple error in judgement. Not eating it, a simple positive action....Invisible results.
It is the same with your health, your diet, your exercise, your financial habits, your knowledge, your relationships, your marriage. With anything and everything. With your life.
The difference between success and failure is not dramatic. In fact, the difference between success and failure is so subtle, most people miss it. They hold the philosophy that what they do doesn't really matter.
The truth is what you do matters. What you do today matters. What you do every day matters...Nobody will applaud you, nobody will notice. They are those things that at that time you do them, often feel like they make absolutely no difference...like they don't matter.
  They do."

So today choose to raise your own self respect by doing what you said you were going to do. Start today, fresh and free of all guilt. If you have a goal to loose weight, do the daily things that it requires to accomplish this. If you have a goal to run in a 5k, then do the daily disciplines to accomplish that goal and to finish well. All things begin with a decision, then you back it up with consistent, daily action and a positive attitude and you will accomplish your goals.
